Future Guidance

Bespoke support for our students

Our highly qualified and experienced Future Guidance Team offers comprehensive future options information, advice and guidance for higher education and alternative pathways, within both global and local environments.

The team seamlessly collaborates with both pastoral and academic programs. At Southbank, we empower our students to make informed decisions about their future by identifying their optimal choices. Through UNIFROG, an online platform for career exploration and future pathways, students in Grades 6 to 12 can explore diverse opportunities and prepare essential documentation for their future pursuits. Families are granted access to the parent view of UNIFROG, encouraging active engagement and support for their child's exploration and planning.

Life Beyond Southbank - Mapping Your Way

Southbank encouraged me to do work experience in Grade 9, where I volunteered in an elderly home. The school has also provided links throughout the years to various open days, fairs and volunteering jobs, which have all played a role in building up my personal statement.

Our Future Guidance Programme

Grades 6–9

Students explore the professional world through a wide-range of activities, which may involve hands-on work experience or guest speaker visits. Employability and career management skills are developed through workshops and the Approaches to Learning pedagogical approach that is embedded in the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Lower School students are invited to explore professional pathways through parent-led events.

Grade 10

One-to-one meetings with the Future Guidance Team support students in exploring IB Diploma Programme subject choices based on their interests and aspirations. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in internships, volunteering, and attend events such as Global University and the Careers Fairs.

Grade 11

Bespoke support continues in Grade 11 with a focus on making well-informed choices regarding education and career paths. Regular one-to-one meetings, participation in networking events, and attendance at the Careers Fair assist students in thoroughly researching, narrowing down options, and applying to universities worldwide. The Future Guidance Team offers coaching and facilitates access to UNIFROG for tailored exploration of global study opportunities.

Grade 12

Bespoke support and guidance continues in the final year. Future Guidance Counsellors assist students with higher education and career options, and offer advice on interviews and admissions testing.
