Welcome to Southbank International School
We are London's leading International Baccalaureate (IB) School, offering a different approach to academic excellence for children aged 2*-18
At our Central London campuses in Hampstead, Kensington and Westminster, we nurture talent, celebrate individuality and develop curious, inquisitive and constantly challenging minds. Our students consistently achieve outstanding results and first-choice university offers.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is enjoyed by both international learners and those who have not previously studied the IB, including children moving over from private primary or secondary schools. The IB aims to do more than other curricula. It builds students critical thinking skills, nurtures their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems.
Through a commitment to academic excellence and a uniquely liberal ethos, the IB also develops students with an inner belief in themselves. Southbank students have an openness to the outside world and a desire to give back to communities on a local, national and global level.

IB Diploma Results at a Glance
We are proud to share the exceptional results of our graduating Class of 2025 in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
This year, 75 students completed the full Diploma. Their results reflect the hard work, intellectual ambition, and commitment that characterise a Southbank education.
These outcomes place Southbank among the leading IB schools globally. Just as importantly, they reflect the strength of our inclusive, student-centred approach – where academic achievement is balanced with critical thinking, creativity, and global awareness.
We congratulate all our students and thank our dedicated teachers, staff, and families for their continued support.
A different approach to academic excellence.
"A school for students who think differently, challenge confidently, dream bigger, question more, explore further."

Science in action! 🧪🪨✨
Our Grade 3 students visited the Westminster campus for a hands-on science lesson all about rocks and materials! 🔍
With plenty of curiosity and teamwork, they explored textures, made observations, and thought like real scientists. Cross-campus learning brings new energy and connection to every subject—and it’s always exciting to see our young learners so engaged. 🌍🧠

📚 Summer Reads from the Portland Place Library! ✨
As we head into the break, our fantastic librarian Erin Patel at Southbank Westminster – Portland Place Campus has curated a powerful and inspiring selection of summer reads for our students. As always, this is a bespoke service — because no two readers are the same, and the right book can make all the difference.
Here are Erin’s top picks for meaningful and memorable summer reading:
🔥 Wild East by Ashley Hickson-Lovence
Ashley visited Southbank earlier this term, and his verse novel is already resonating with students. A fast-paced and deeply emotional story inspired by the author’s own experience of losing a best friend at 16 — raw, moving, and unforgettable.
👑 King of Nothing by Nathaniel Lessore
Shortlisted for the Carnegie Award, this witty and thought-provoking novel follows Anton as he navigates masculinity, identity, and choice. A hilarious and heartfelt antidote to the usual tropes around teenage boys.
💸 Girls That Invest by Simran Kaur
An empowering read that breaks down the basics of financial literacy and investing — encouraging young women to take control of their financial futures and challenge the stereotypes that hold them back.
Thank you, Erin, for always offering thoughtful, tailored support to our students — and helping them discover books that matter. 🌟📘

🥾⛺ Peak District, Peak Challenge!
In the summer term, our Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants completed their assessed expedition—a true test of endurance, teamwork and resilience in the beautiful (and sometimes midge-filled!) Peak District.
Over three days and two nights, students hiked up to 20km a day while carrying all their kit—tents, food, clothing and cooking gear—across demanding terrain. After early starts, long days on the trail, and setting up camp each evening, they showed real determination and camaraderie.
Despite the sore feet, basic facilities, and the occasional rain shower, spirits stayed high and teamwork shone through. The group fully embraced the DofE challenge and should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.
Congratulations to all our Silver Award students—next stop, Gold?🏅

📚✨ A Step Into Literary History!
Our students had the incredible opportunity to visit Jane Austen’s House in Chawton — the very cottage where one of Britain’s most celebrated authors lived and penned classics like Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility.
Exploring the rooms where Austen revised and wrote her iconic novels gave students a unique window into her 19th-century world — from her writing desk to the gardens that inspired her stories.
More than just a literary pilgrimage, this visit deepened students’ understanding of how Austen’s sharp wit and social commentary continue to shape English literature today. A truly inspiring trip! 💬🖋️

🏃♂️ A huge congratulations to Mr. Linnane, our Head of Creative Arts, who fulfilled a long-time dream last month by running his first full London Marathon — and in truly impressive style!
Mr. Linnane ran in support of Age UK Westminster, raising funds to help provide essential services for the elderly in our community. A dedicated runner for over a decade, he set himself the ambitious goal of finishing in 2:50... and crossed the line at an incredible 2:46! ⏱️👏
He described the experience of running through the streets of London, cheered on by thousands, as "more amazing than I had imagined." We’re so proud of his passion, perseverance, and commitment — both in the classroom and on the course.
Here’s to next year’s race! 🏅
