Welcome to Southbank International School
We are London's leading International Baccalaureate (IB) School, offering a different approach to academic excellence for children aged 2*-18
At our Central London campuses in Hampstead, Kensington and Westminster, we nurture talent, celebrate individuality and develop curious, inquisitive and constantly challenging minds. Our students consistently achieve outstanding results and first-choice university offers.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is enjoyed by both international learners and those who have not previously studied the IB, including children moving over from private primary or secondary schools. The IB aims to do more than other curricula. It builds students critical thinking skills, nurtures their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems.
Through a commitment to academic excellence and a uniquely liberal ethos, the IB also develops students with an inner belief in themselves. Southbank students have an openness to the outside world and a desire to give back to communities on a local, national and global level.

A huge well done to the Southbank Law Society, who, after winning in the London Independent School Mock Trial competition, they were invited to participate in the national competition on June 29th at the Old Bailey.
It was a great experience to be trying their cases with the top independent school teams from around England. Though they did not win this time, the team received very positive feedback from the judges who noted the fluency and confidence displayed by the Southbank team in discussing our cases. Bravo team Southbank! 👏🫶

A couple of weeks ago, a group of our dedicated #Westminster Grade 11 students embarked on a unique educational adventure in Tenerife, working alongside marine biologists to promote the conservation of cetaceans—whales, dolphins, and other marine species. This trip provided an immersive learning experience, combining hands-on research, environmental stewardship, and cultural exploration.
Our students had the incredible opportunity to work closely with marine biologists to assess the populations and behaviors of various cetaceans in the waters surrounding Tenerife. This research is crucial for understanding the impact of human activities on these magnificent creatures and developing strategies to protect them.
In alignment with the Creativity, Activity, Service (#CAS) program, students participated in several activities aimed at reducing coastal erosion and plastic pollution. They volunteered in beach clean-up sessions, collecting data on the types and quantities of waste found. This data is added to a citizen science database, aiding broader efforts to combat plastic pollution and preserve marine ecosystems.
Beyond their environmental work, students also honed their culinary skills by planning and preparing their own meals, including traditional #Spanish dishes.
The educational journey continued with lessons on sustainability and the realities of climate change. Students engaged in #hikes around #Tenerife’s historical landmarks, fostering a connection with nature and an understanding of the local environment. A highlight was exploring #Garachico Old Town, one of the oldest villages in the #CanaryIslands, founded at the end of the 15th century.
This expedition provided our students with a holistic educational experience, blending scientific research, environmental #conservation, culinary arts, and cultural exploration and also preparing students to become informed and active global citizens. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to making a positive impact on the world around them.

A look back to Friday 21st June, when our Southbank Hampstead students walked to St John at Hampstead Church and gave a truly delightful concert.
The students displayed the results of their work with their Suzuki violin and cello repertoire, filling the church with harmonious and captivating melodies. The flute group and guitar group also performed beautifully, adding a rich variety of musical textures to the program.
The choir sang with passion and precision, their voices blending perfectly and resonating through the historic church. The concert was a splendid celebration of the students` hard work and dedication, leaving the audience thoroughly enchanted.

As we approach the last few hours of the school year, and conclude our annual cycle of goodbyes, there is one very important farewell we have to mention as the lovely Helen Watson, Primary Office Manager at our Kensington campus, is to retire after 26 years at Southbank.
Helen has made a significant contribution to our school and has been the ‘engine’ of our Kensington campus, supporting new and existing families in every way to make them feel welcome and have a sense of belonging to our community. Underpinning her daily tasks, is a person whose values mirror those of our school: inclusivity, positivity, and ‘treating every individual with fairness and respect’. Helen is a ‘true Southbanker’ in that she embodies action and care for others.
We will sorely miss Helen and wish her a wonderful retirement. We asked Helen about her time at Southbank and what she will miss the most. You can read what she said on our School News page here

What a week it`s been for #sports at Southbank!
Students at all three of our campuses, #Hampstead, #Kensington and #Westminster put on their red, blue, yellow and green kits to compete in a number of sports from javelin to long jump to cheerleading and obstacle races.
Our primary campuses held their sports day at the #paddingtonrecreationalgrounds and our Westminster campus held theirs at the impressive #stonexstaduim. Our Kensington campus had the pleasure of being joined by inspirational Basketball player Chris Tawiah, who has won multiple championships and competed in some of Europe`s elite leagues and international club competitions.
Sports day was throughly enjoyed by students, parents and staff who had lots of fun competing but most importantly, gave lots of encouragement and support to each other. Go Southbank!
